Cookies, chai and conversations - what’s not to love about a tea party?
One thing we are glad about is how the tea party is still evolving well into the 21st century. As much as we love our post work glass of beer, we appreciate the quiet beauty of a tea moment. The formal floral China and scones with clotted cream is traditional, but not enough to feel outdated. Florals are still as popular but feel free to add in bits of what you love – adrak chai or wine spritzer, keto sandwiches or some gluten-free tea cakes. In the context of today, an afternoon tea party means you pick your budget and add all your favourite treats for a stylish soiree you can enjoy with friends.
Here are some of our top tips to getting it right:
1. Old and new - Instead of getting rid of vintage pieces of crockery that’s been handed down over the years, give them new purpose. Curate mismatched cups and saucers, textured jugs and patterned cake stands from your cupboard and showcase it together on a beautiful silver tray and wicker tea trolley.
2. All in the details - An afternoon tea party can be as simple or as sophisticated as you’d like, but the devil, as always, is in the little things. Fill charming glass jars with gingerbread biscuits and swap finger sandwiches for sesame lavash and a choice of dips. An elegant addition of filigree doilies, cloth napkins and a bold arrangement of Lilliums provides freshness and the perfect finishing touch.
With a few clever additions and a little creativity, an impressive soiree is just a hot cuppa away.
