Here's our pick of some of the coolest bathrooms designs that will give any spa a run for its money

It’s probably one of the most frequently used spaces in the house and hence it’s hardly a surprise that most people spend a fortune on doing it up. It’s almost like a sanctuary to us, so we rounded up some really cool ideas for you to be inspired from and recreate in your homes.

1. Room With a View

If you can afford it, then plan your bathroom in a way that it opens out to some splendid views. Nothing like soaking in a tub and watching the sun go down. Invest in quality fittings, and it will go a long way.

2. Material Magic

Take the contemporary road - introduce unusual materials like brick for the wall surface. A large oversized mirror can double the space and also add a dash of glam.

3. Pattern Play

If like most millennials, you too are stuck in a pigeonhole for an apartment, fret not. Use materials and patterns to your advantage – Opt for basic black and white tiles and lay them in a pattern. Introduce wood to make the space warm, and add in a chandelier or an interesting hanging light for effect.

4. Vintage

Nothing like a clawfoot bathtub to spell luxury and vintage at the same time. Treat it like a sacred cabana by adding mul curtains on all sides. Now all that you need are some bath salts and candles.

5. Glamorous

Think big – nothing spells luxury like a black and gold combination. Add to it some gold trimmings with mirrors, you are guaranteed a taste of Baroque.

An expansive space gives a spa like vibe to the bathroom.
Break the rules, work with unusual materials like brick and see your space transform itself.
Work the black and gold palette to create a glam look.
Use a monochromatic palette to create striking patterns – checks, chevrons or simple stripes, take your pick .
