In the studio of Studio Wood

a New Delhi-based interior and furniture design studio’s office

We take a tour of the New Delhi based interior and furniture design studio’s office space

New Delhi based furniture and architecture practise, Studio Wood’s office space started as a summer project between a group of young design graduates in the basement of a furniture workshop in New Delhi in early 2014. As the team grew, they realised the need to move into a larger set-up.

Since the office space had to be close to their existing workshop, the team scouted for places close by. The partners finally managed to find the space they required in the Kishangarh area near Delhi’s Vasant Kunj.

The ground floor plot comprised of about 700 square-feet and had windows on all three sides which provided ample natural light.

Sustainable practises guided the design of the studio- scrap board and metal were re-used from their workshop; plate glass was sourced from a local vendor and bricks were secured from a demolition site. Glass blocks used were restored from an old project.

The interiors have been kept minimal with architectural sketches by Sahej Bhatia (one of the founders) occuping the rough textured white walls. Green palms and other indoor plants line the interiors.

The Studio Wood office space seats around ten people, with a meeting room that can seat six people.

There is also a display area where the team showcases their furniture collection from time to time.

“Products from our latest furniture design collection are displayed near the entrance with strategically planned lighting, 3D printed miniatures, a library of books, magazines and a comfy couch for reading,” says Vrinda Mathur, one third of Studio Wood’s founder team that has Sahej Bhatia and Navya Aggarwal to complete it.

“A mini design paradise” is how the Studio Wood team likes to describe their office. We couldn’t agree more.
