The Village Studio, Goa

By Tasneem Merchant

Oct 27, 2017

The interiors of The Village Studio in Goa are a lesson in minimalism and decorating with art

Sometimes, keeping it simple is the best way to go and The Village Studio in Parra, Goa has applied this beautifully with its minimal and pared back approach to interiors. This allows the art surrounding the area to take centre stage and be the décor hero.

This fascinating art-centric outpost was founded by Laila Vaziralli, with help from local artists, who have used the walls as a canvas for showcasing their skills. Sparse furniture dots the area – enough to seat but not crowd the green view. What we especially love are the life size murals in both the rooms available for visitors. In fact, this can be easily replicated in the home for feature walls in the living room.

Take inspiration from this room to setup a study table drenched in natural light. Make it personal by framing and hanging artworks.

Decorate your outdoors a little too. Hang artworks from poles and ladders as seen at The Village Studio, for your own balcony.

Simple yet effective – the monkey mural on the wall instantly uplifts the space. Take a cue for feature walls in your own living room.

The sparsely furnished villa makes effective use of colour blocking. Here, the blue sofa set against the otherwise natural surroundings, steals the limelight.
