The Recently Opened Lima Restaurant In Mumbai Is A Gamut Of Colours And Prints

Set in the middle of swanky office buildings and interesting art installations in Maker Maxity, BKC, Mumbai, the interiors of Lima are an adventure of their own. Showcasing the talents of London-based interior designer Andy Lampard, the restaurant is designed to look like an amped up version of a Peruvian verandah – prints, textures, colours, metals, wood and velvets all have a place here. The most eye-catching feature is the textured bright green ceiling reminiscent of manicured grass glistening on a sunny day.

Vying for attention is the ‘Tardis’ blue bar replete with a shiny brass counter top and shelves. The low-hanging antique chandeliers lining the bar throw soft light illuminating the chevron tile border on the floor. Pull your eyes away and you’ll notice the parquet flooring in a natural wood finish, walls painted a salmon-tinted taupe and slatted French doors that let in abundant natural light. Adding drama are the antique brass and glass pendant lamps hung in clusters, the copper-top tables lined with cafe-styled chairs and cherry red ‘petal’ lounge chairs facing a peach sofa.

When replicating this look, take a few pieces and work them in. Throw in rugs to add colour, texture and prints; the Chevron and Kilim collections from Sarita Handa work well with this look. Anemos has a great collection of ceiling fans and pendant lamps that mirror those at Lima – look at the Artemis wooden fan and the brass and glass pendant lights collection. The Black Antique Chandelier from The Purple Turtles is a great alternative. Other interesting pieces to look at include the red Reden Lounge Chair from Urban Ladder, the Bombay Leather Sofa collection in Montana Chestnut from Gulmohar Lane, and the Bloom Gold Side Table from Orange Tree.

Antique brass and glass hanging lamps work well with the wooden ceiling fans while muted walls and natural wood finish floors form the perfect backdrop for copper and cherry red.
Black antique chandeliers that throw soft light add to the ambience.
