These glass igloos by far are the best way to experience the Northern lights from the comfort of a room
Imagine living in an Igloo – one from where you can have an uninterrupted view of the Northern lights. The Kakslauttanen Igloo Estate village in Finland affords you just that. About 250 kilometres from the Artic Circle, it is at an echoing distance from Urho Kekkonen National Park, one of Finland’s largest national parks.
Founded by Jussi, it was a chance halt in the area in 1973 that led him to fall in love with the surroundings. Soon, in a year’s time he built a café to cater to passers-by here, and eventually over a period of time, has developed the property. The stunning glass igloos allow a 180 degrees view of the northern lights, and are equal parts romantic and stunning. Fitted with a noise-cancelling technology, you can be assured that you can have a good night’s sleep, if you are so inclined. But who would want to sleep in when they a view like this, is anyone’s guess.
