Surrounded by tall Arjuna trees and an ancient Banyan rooted on a dry riverbed, each of the luxury tents overlook the lush forest
To be honest most of our safari holiday planning revolves around the probability of tiger or leopard sightings. But the Jamatra Wilderness Camp gives us enough reason to be excited about lounging in-between the game drives.
The common area has been designed much like a living room, and has a cosy vibe to it. Think white stucco walls, painted wooden ceiling, teakwood window frames, among others. How can one resist lounging on the plush, tan Chesterfield sofa? The dhurrie is as much a joy for tired feet as it is for the eyes, adding a burst of colour to the interiors.
This living room-esque space opens into a common dining area that is furnished with old school, metal-framed chairs (they remind us of the chairs in our fathers’ offices back in the day), which look surprisingly contemporary given the leather upholstery. These sit around a heavy, one-piece table fashioned out of a tree bark, just what’s needed to aid the jungle experience. Distressed, coloured wooden flooring magically uplifts the space.
But our favourite has to be the star bed. Set up on an outdoor platform with a mosquito net to boot, it allows one to spend the night stargazing to the wonderful sounds of the jungle.
