This boutique hotel comes alive with a careful restoration using local craftsmanship, techniques and materials
Spanish design, to us, has always been about Antonio Gaudi; Swirls, curves, elegant, busy, and always intriguing. But one look at Lucas y Hernández- Gil Arquitectos’ restoration work on Hotel Ayllón, and elaborate takes a backseat in favour of a more restrained yet delicate approach.A boutique hotel located in the main square of Ayllón, a beautiful and well-preserved town full of historic 16th and 17th century buildings, the intervention is simple and austere yet warm and comfortable at the same time - a contemporary reconstruction in rustic style.
With a deep-rooted respect for its surroundings, they decided to adapt and adhere instead of standing out. The main idea was to create a simple and sober effect. The space in itself has a calm and peaceful vibe, with shades of colour that give it freshness just like the poppies in the Castilian wheat fields.
Situated in two old houses, it is connected by a courtyard. All the rooms are different but are bound by a common thread; that of the furniture style that harks back to the twentieth-century. The interiors are furnished with clean lines, untreated wood, Carrara marble and stone. With more than enough nooks and corners, it allows you to burrow into your books or simply enjoy the views of the old town from its many balconies.
