Grandmama's Cafe, Mumbai

By Pragnya Rao

Step into a quaint, vintage world, which is a mix ‘n’ match haven

We won’t blame you if you feel like you were standing outside a café in small town in Europe, and not on the bustling streets of Mumbai. Aqua-framed windows with lace sheers offer a glimpse into the quaint café inside. White painted brick walls (read our story on How to create and care for exposed brick walls here) with an assortment of eclectic frames, comfy sofas, and shelves with planters give it a very homely feel.

We love the tables with an intricate patterned tabletop that gives the illusion of tiles, and the mix ‘n’ match of chairs. We won’t ever have to worry about fitting in extra guests with matching seating options. We also love how the birdcage has been given a new life as a hanging lamp. Different prints for different sofas, a combination of dining chairs and a range of hanging lamps could mean pattern-hell. But given the white backdrop, what we get instead is an eclectic décor setting, where every piece finds its sweet spot.
