What’s a tea party without friends, family, small bites and endless cups of tea? While you draw up that guest list, we help you with a checklist that will make your tea party a hit with your folks. Let’s get started then. Delicate China; check. Your mom’s silver cutlery; check. Pretty doilies; check. Set these using some easy but cool serving ideas, and you are set. And no, you don’t need to serve just mini sandwiches for it to work. We show you how you can ace even Indian snacks with our quick tips.

Remember, your tea party setting doesn’t need to have matching sets. Pair platters in materials like marble and wood together, dainty china with metal cutlery. You can even throw in a mix of paper and fabric doilies to soften the setting.
When serving brownies or oatmeal bars, you can chop them into chunky cubes and serve in printed paper cups. Throw in a toothpick with a fun-shaped flag – not only will it look great, but will also be easy to pick and eat.
If it’s fries or aloo wadis, just toss them into paper cones. You can even club a few and serve them in chai glass holders.
You can never go wrong with sandwiches. However, give it a twist and work with open ones. It works best with cold cuts and cheese because you cut them into neat layers, which look great visually. Top it with a toothpick and there won’t be messy fingers either.
Everyone’s favourite kathi roll doesn’t have to be plated as large, cumbersome logs but instead you can cut them into neat oval-shaped, bite-sized pieces.
This one’s an all time classic. Nothing spells a tea party more than neatly tiered cupcakes, macaroons and quiches. So pull that tiered cupcake stand out, we suggest throw in a banana leaf cut in the same shape as the base of the stand for a bit of Indian touch.
