Francois Bernard’s theme for the September edition of Maison & Objet encourages us to go back to our safe zone
How many times have we been told to step out of our comfort zone? The September edition of Maison & Objet 2017 turned the concept on its head by encouraging people to embrace the comfort zone in all its glory. So, the founder of Croisements Agence and member of The Observatory of Maison & Objet, Francois Bernard imagined various scenarios in which one needs to adopt the comfort zone into their life, including the home and workplace. The theme was brought to life using plush, cosy products in a gamut of colours and textures. Generous, voluptuous curves replaced cold, straight lines and hard surfaces made way for more malleable and sinkable ones at the display. The idea that comfort at all times in every place must be cherished over other factors was conveyed effectively through these.
The look that stole our heart however, is the office comfort zone. A place dictated by the law of ergonomics to such an extent that it has led to clinical looking interiors. Francois imagines a workspace with a slightly more personal touch. This includes chairs that envelope people entirely, provide back support and are more appealing to look at.
