The Elephant Parade comes to India

  • Ideas and Inspiration
Nov 08, 2017

All of our favourite designers were there – Ravi Vazirani, Ashiesh Shah, Tarun Tahiliani, Christian Louboutin, Peter D’Ascoli. We would have to just stop counting. Name them, and they were there – putting their creative foot forward to raise awareness for the endangered Asian elephants

We love it when design, through its ability to impact, influences positive change. And so, when the Elephant Parade, an initiative by the Elephant Family came to India, we couldn’t help but be excited. An exclusive preview was held at the Albert Hall in Jaipur where more than 100 creative stalwarts put forth their vision, all resplendent in vivid colours and a magical material palette. And for those who missed the brouhaha, it is soon coming to Mumbai in February 2018.

We’ll be waiting for these gorgeously decked up elephants to cross our paths. Till then, here’s a peek into what you can expect…

Dappu Juju by fashion designer Anita Dongre depicts a forest scene with wild animals and lush greenery painted on it.
We are in awe of the brilliant marbling effect on Ramrattan, the elephant by Mumbai based interior designer Ravi Vazirani.
New Delhi based scenographer Sumant Jayakrishnan’s elephant is covered in a mosaic of mirrorwork topped with colourful, round motifs. We love the bright, clashing colours on this one!
