It’s okay to bend the décor rules a bit to create a space that incorporates everything you love. Create a mix and match corner with all the things you hold close to your heart.
Rejigging the living room is not a task for the faint-hearted. There’s a lot of shifting around that needs to be done and we simply can’t choose from our favourite objects while decluttering to make the space look bigger. So, don't try to match it all. Mix and match is an all-time darling of the decor world. Start your makeover by backing up furniture against the wall, leaving a central space open for other activities. So, push back that classic armchair against your wall. Pair it with a modern console in leather finish. A tufted ottoman to put your feet up on and an end table to keep books, cups and remotes at hand. A traditional print wallpaper will offset this rather beautifully in your living room design. Now much like winter clothing, start layering the space with your favourite objects. The aim is to go for a streamlined rather than minimal look. This will let you play with the number of artefacts you want to showcase. Don’t hide away those shiny, gold trimmed accents. Balance the look with some wooden accents and bottled greens. Lastly, place a small, colourful cushion that will have your back as you slink into that chair for a well-deserved rest.
For some cohesion in the space, it’s best to introduce accessories in a single tone. As you may have guessed, we love golden accents for a touch of glam.
