  • Acrylic paint & brushes
  • White glue

Be it a walk in the park or at the beach - children love collecting souvenirs on the way in the form of twigs and seeds. What if these little collections can make for some nice home décor? Kochi-based designer Vanessa Meister Varma shows a quick DIY to transform your kids’ collected treasures into a popping décor piece with paints and basic materials. It is a great way to decorate your kids’ room while keeping them busy during the holidays.

STEPS

  1. Paint sticks and let dry
  2. Stick with glue and let dry overnight
  3. Display in a shelf or on the wall

METHOD

Start by painting your sticks and twigs with a flat brush. Vary the pattern with stripes thick and thin. Use a colour palette that you like, three or four colours are enough. While the paint dries, cut a piece of foam board the size of your frame. Select and move the pieces around until you find a nice composition. Stick your elements to the board and let dry overnight. You can decorate the edges of the frame if you want to add more pop. Put your board in the frame and display!

This DIY is nice to do with children as they love seeing their collected treasures being transformed and used to embellish their room.
