A cosy Bengaluru home for five

A cosy Bengaluru home designed by Praxis

Bengaluru based architecture firm Praxis designed this contemporary apartment for Manisha and Paramesh Chopparappu

A woman, a man, two dogs and a cat. We can’t think of a better way to open a story. But wait, there’s more. There’s also a cosy penthouse apartment in the picture. Designed by architecture firm Praxis, this three bedroom, two storey penthouse is a contemporary take on urban living, located in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar area. The home owners Paramesh and Manisha Chopparappu were looking for a home that could reflect their personal tastes and lifestyle.

At the heart of the design process was a through understanding of the client’s tastes and lifestyle, by including them in the process at every step, looking at their individual quirks and preferences to make the home a reflection of their true selves.

In the living room, a red brick textured wall sets the tone for the rest of the interiors. The upholstery, in tones of ochre and grey, keeps the focus on the warm, inviting material palette.

The 10 feet long table, with well-planned ambient lighting, makes this a perfect spot to entertain close friends and family. A cement finished staircase provides a perfect foil to this industrial themed dining seating area, giving way to the more private part of the home. A master bedroom, family room and vegetable garden find their place on the second level. The tiled roof on this level is a charming addition that complements the balcony garden and the city landscape beyond.

Paramesh’s black and white photographs, taken from trips around the world, provide a personal touch on the walls, while Manisha’s love for gardening is reflected in the little green corners around the house. The apartment has three outdoor spaces, two balconies and a vegetable garden. Perfectly framed views of the city from the balcony provide an escape for this young couple who have spent years travelling the world but finally found ‘home’ in this tastefully done up Indiranagar apartment.
