Step inside one of our favourite bars in the city
We are not sure what we love more, their craft beers or the effortlessly stylish, industrial décor. We still are nursing a hangover from our recent pub crawl across Shoreditch in London, and BBC here takes us right back into the alleys we so miss.
The space is quite chic, and a definite departure from what breweries in the country look like. “The space reminded me of market places around London, the voluminous, semi-enclosed structures with double level galleries that led to mysterious inner sanctuaries,” reveals interior designer, Tejal Mathur, the woman behind this décor-forward interiors.
Exposed siporex blocks and cement panels continue the industrial theme indoors where a large Union Jack flag takes centre stage. Raw wood finishes, vintage patterned tiles, wrought iron chandeliers, and exposed ceiling makes for a charming décor.
The space takes its cue from the architectural context, and hence the gastropub as we see it, is set against the backdrop of an abandoned market place. With several points of entry and exit, the movement within is seamless. You could be in a market place off the many lanes in Shoreditch, it’s hard to tell you are in central Mumbai. Light filters in through the large wooden framed windows over the assorted tables and chairs placed on the cobblestone style flooring. It’s a wonderful feeling; you can almost feel yourself enjoying the rare London sun.
