Travel to a design hotel that looks and feels like an artsy home
At Bankside in London, close to Tate Modern, look for the building with the words “Another World Is Possible” across it. That’s one of three citizenMs in London. The lobby looks like that of a person well travelled. Styled on purpose to look like a home, the open-plan living room is designed with contemporary furniture from Vitra. It also makes space for the self-service canteen. Right from the point you enter, there’s nothing hotel-like about this space. Instead of grand chandeliers, you’ll find a ceiling filled with white paper lantern-like pendant lights. Instead of check-in counters, you’ll find a bookshop with books on design, photography, fashion and architecture.
The Dutch hotel group, known for its unique concept of affordable luxury, designed this as a modern hotel for the urban, tech-savvy traveller. Although minimally styled, each of the 192 guest rooms is high on comfort and technology. The space boasts of contemporary furniture, eccentric accessories, interesting curios and thought-provoking art.
