The center table is supposed to be sturdy, and versatile. It can be designed to go with the vibe of the space. It is very important to match the aesthetics with the center table. If you are thinking about how to get the perfect center table for your home, then look no further. We have compiled a list of the best tips to keep in mind while buying a center table.

1.    Size matters

The ideal center table is supposed to be neither too big, nor too small. The ideal center table does the work of an anchor element to the vibe of the entire room. It may be directly placed in the center of the room to ensure that the surrounding furniture is anchored but still leaves room for moving around. You may also create more than one center point (maybe two) if your room is large enough - like the foci of an ellipse. A rule of thumb tip is to ensure that you maintain at least an 18-inch gap between the center table and all the surrounding furniture. For the size, ensure that the table is big enough for your needs. If you intend to use it as a storage space, it should have enough space for storage mechanisms. If you intend to use it as a showpiece stand, it should be big enough to hold the piece without overwhelming the surroundings. If you want to use it as an everyday use center table, better ensure that it can simultaneously hold the number of mugs used in your household. The height of the center table should also be around the same height as the surrounding furniture - like the sofa or chairs.

2.    Shape matters, too

The best reference to the desired shape of the center table you choose should be the shape and form of your sofa or surrounding furniture. An L-shaped sofa can have rectangular tables around it so that the items placed on it are within reach for all the occupants. Smaller sofas can work with a square or even a round center table for ease of access. Nowadays various quirky shapes are also available. It can work well if you have a bigger sofa and can afford to accommodate a design that may not have standard dimensions. You can always choose oval or oblong or circular designs along with ottomans to add to the vibe. Round center tables are great too.

3.    What is your style?

Since your center table will quite literally be the ‘center’ of attention, the best way to ensure your style is embedded into the room is to choose a table that complements your décor and vibe. Your center table also could be something that matches the color scheme of the room. Make sure the textures on the material of the room are also comfortable. A good example would be that an edgy or a geometric table belongs in a contemporary home décor language, but a wooden or a rustic center table would be much more the speed in a traditional living room.

Make sure you do not forget the scale of the room. If you have a room with high ceilings or lots of windows your modern center table being an imposing one would be a good idea. A large center table for sofa  in such spaces would help ground the room. If you have a small room, pair it up with a small center table. If you want to create the illusion of depth, a modern center table with glass should do the trick. A glass center table will also allow you to make the room seem bigger. It can also be used to show off a plush rug below.

Make sure your table size complements the size of the furniture around it. A slim sofa set would work well with a large (not overwhelmingly large though) center table for drawing room. A plush sofa set with large cushions may benefit from a smaller center table for hall that doesn’t sway attention from the sofa set itself.

4.    What do you intend to use your table for?

Based on the activities you use the table for, you should customize the designer center table to fit your needs and use case. If your center table for living room is supposed to hold things as well, use a center table with storage. This way you can hold anything like magazines, remote controls, board games, coasters, napkins, or maybe even stationery.  If you entertain guests a lot, use a designer center table that is accessible from the furniture around, and also make sure it is stain-resistant. If you use the center table to put your feet on and relax, use an Ottoman. A glass center table should also have lip edges so that it is not too sharp and doesn’t hurt people using it. A center table with a rugged surface would

also help with holding stuff placed on top of it really well, like for holding cups of tea. Tea table designing would involve you choosing the top level on a frame of choice.

5.    Do not skimp on the materials

A lot of center tables see a lot of activities being carried out around them. This means that your center table better be a robust piece of furniture if it is used that often. Wood is the most common preference when it comes to materials for a center table frame. A wooden center table is the most versatile and can be used for a variety of uses. The second most common option is what we call MDF (Medium Density Fiberboard). You can always use a metal frame as well. This provides strength and durability alike. Metal frames are also easier to clean and maintain than wood or MDF. All in all, the center table for living room you choose should be stable, sturdy, easily maintainable, and durable. The top can be marble, and a marble top center table would look regal and elegant.
