5 elements for a beautiful patio

Have a patio that needs styling? Follow our guide to create an outdoor nook you will love spending time in

Ever wanted to create a stylish outdoor space but didn’t know where and how to start? We created a checklist so you don’t have to. Read on.

Outdoor Furniture
Your choice of outdoor furniture is key. Depending on the space that you have – a single rattan armchair or a double seater with lots of floor cushions thrown in, will help anchor your patio. Rattan furniture is easy to maintain and can withstand outdoor elements like moisture and direct sunlight better than other materials. A side stool to hold glasses and cutlery is another key piece. Ideally, pick a table with a stone countertop for durability.

Pergola
A pergola is a wooden framework created for the roof of your outdoor space. If that is too much of an investment, get your carpenter to create a criss-cross wood frame for your patio wall, which you can use to grow herbs and green creepers to lend a garden touch.

Cushions & Mattresses
Soft furnishings matter so you can sit comfortably during those long house parties. Most rattan furniture comes without furnishings so your local tailor should be able to fit it out with comfortable cushions. Pick a palette that suits your taste. If you have the good fortune of having a concrete ledge in your patio, measure it out to create a mattress that fits it snugly.

Candles
Candles and pretty candelabrum help lend a cosy touch to your outdoor space. This is a good hack when you don’t want to invest in switch points for your patio space. Conserve energy, light candles instead.

Fairylights
A short thread of fairy lights never hurt anyone. We are fans of fairy lights as a shortcut to a décor upgrade. String these above your main piece of furniture and you are all set to host that house party.
