This leather and steel chair with its modern, minimalist lines became the darling of the design world since its inception

One of the most iconic chairs of the last century, the Barcelona chair by master architect, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, toes his philosophy of “God is in the details,” to the T. Each of the 40 individual panels on the surface is cut, hand-welted, and hand-tufted with leather buttons produced from a single cowhide, and has 17 straps are used for cushion support.

Created for the German Pavilion at the Barcelona Exposition in 1929, itwas meant to receive the Spanish king. Only two pieces were produced in the first batch but it had such a high demand that ever since, it has been manufactured every single year.
