Add edgy sophistication to your bedroom with black and white

Play with textures and patterns to get the monochrome look right every tim

Playing with light and shadows has never been easier or trendier. And your bedroom is the perfect space to try and make this trend your own. Here’s what you need to remember:

1.    Timeless yet trendy - Given its closeness to both Scandinavian and Japanese interior inspiration, when done right, monochrome always looks chic. You can add textures through wallpaper, paint and fabric. Look for subtle metallic finishes on curtains or differently sized cushions and even an all metal head board to elevate the look instantly.

2.    Clutter kills - Perhaps the most important thing to remember is the feeling of lightness and openness is what brings monochrome to life. Go with natural lighting and choose carefully what you want to display and what you needn’t. A sleek side table to hold your necessities should do the job. Add an edgy black metal elbow lamp by the bedside instead of table lamp for a dramatic punch.

3.    Turn up the heat - Just because monochrome says cool minimalism, doesn’t mean it can’t be cosy. Warm up a black, white and grey bedroom with a powerful addition of honey, maple or oak coloured wood. You can also add earthy elements like wooden trinket boxes, wicker, small succulents in stoneware or throws made of natural materials like jute, hemp, or even chunky wool.
