Rohit Mankar of Mumbai-based Parallax Design Studio gives old school mosaic a contemporary makeover with the Aranya collection for Bharat Floorings and Tiles
There’s a hand-drawn quality to his new collection, which appeals to our child-like heart. It reminds us of endless hours of drawing on chalkboards with broken pieces of coloured chalk. Of course, this is more stylized, much refined, and we are sure will fit our homes more seamlessly than our doodles of yore.
Inspired by traditional floor inlay patterns intrinsic to Indian design, and birds and flowers, the series features four main motifs – bird in motion, dragonfly, butterfly and gerbera flowers. Several variations of the patterns are available as well, giving you the freedom of choosing and creating your own panels and combinations.
You can either have the butterflies pecking on the flowers or dragonflies chasing the sweet nectar. If you are one for creating patterns and illusions, pick their bird in motion tiles to create your own version of a stop motion video on walls or even floors.
