We first had our heart set on it when we noticed it in Wallace’s house in the movie Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit. We probed around further and found its candyfloss cousin, and we were smitten. Founded by Vittorio Bertazzoni, in the early 19th century, today it is the darling of the appliance world.
It was in the 1990s that Smeg launched its retro 50s refrigerators, which went on to become a huge hit all over the world. This was followed by versions in the symbolic Union Jack flag and collaborations with Fiat. We are currently digging their latest collaboration with fashion icons Dolce&Gabbana for the design of a special edition of the FAB28 refrigerator. It sees skillful Sicilian painters render the interpretations of Sicilian folklore with painted elements like the lemons, trinacria symbol, cartwheels, medieval knights and battle scenes. We love the refrigerators are no longer just appliances but a piece of art that you can use to brighten up your kitchens.
